THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENT
"The moment you ask the question
deserves to be remembered forever."
Tokyo is one of the world's most magical places to propose — lantern-lit temple gates in Asakusa, sakura-framed bridges in Shinjuku Gyoen, the vast silence of Mt. Fuji at sunrise. I help you plan every detail in secret so that when the moment arrives, it unfolds naturally, beautifully, and entirely by surprise.
I'm Preity, a Tokyo-based photographer specialising in surprise proposals, couples, and elopements across Japan. I coordinate the positioning, timing, and composition entirely behind the scenes — so you are free to be fully present, and your partner never suspects a thing.
THE PROCESS
How Your Surprise Proposal Works
We connect privately by email. You share the location idea, rough timing, and any preferences. Everything is kept completely confidential.
I recommend and scout the exact position — light, angle, distance — so I'm hidden but perfectly placed to capture the moment as it happens.
I arrive early and blend in. When you kneel, I capture every frame — the question, the reaction, the tears, the embrace.
After the surprise, we move into a relaxed couples shoot — now as newly engaged. You'll have both the raw proposal moments and polished engagement portraits.

Proposal & Engagement Gallery
Preity coordinated everything without my partner having the slightest idea. The photos captured not just the proposal but everything that followed — the laughter, the disbelief, the joy. We look at them every single day.
— DANIEL & YUKI · SYDNEY · CHERRY BLOSSOM SEASON 2024 "I was terrified the surprise would be ruined. Preity was invisible until the perfect second. When I finally saw the photos I cried all over again — she caught a moment I didn't even know was happening.

Proposal Photography — FAQ
How do I keep the proposal a complete surprise?
All planning happens privately between you and me — your partner is never copied on any communication. I arrive at the location well before you, find a discreet position, and remain invisible until after the question is asked.
What are the best locations for a surprise proposal in Tokyo?
Asakusa at dusk, Shinjuku Gyoen during cherry blossom season, and the Odaiba waterfront at golden hour are my top three for beauty and photographic impact. Mt. Fuji and Hakone are the most dramatic options for couples who want a destination proposal experience.
What happens immediately after the proposal?
I step forward and introduce myself, then we transition naturally into a relaxed engagement portrait session. You'll arrive home with both the raw, spontaneous proposal frames and polished couple portraits.
How far in advance should I book?
I recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks in advance to allow time for location planning and to secure your preferred date. Cherry blossom season (late March to early April) books out months ahead — enquire as early as possible for spring proposals.
Do you photograph proposals outside Tokyo — Mt. Fuji, Hakone, Kyoto?
Yes. Mt. Fuji and Hakone are available as destination packages. For Kyoto, Osaka, and other locations further afield, please get in touch to discuss your plans.
When will I receive my photos?
You will receive 3-5 sneak peek images within 24 hours of your session. Your full edited gallery will be ready within 15 business days.
Do you also photograph couples sessions beyond proposals?
Yes — couples photography and family photography are also core to my work. Many proposal clients return for anniversary and honeymoon sessions. Get in touch →
